Land Clearing
Clearing overgrown lots and wooded areas for new construction, pasture, or a usable backyard.
The Job
Bigger Than a Single Tree
Land clearing is the larger-scale version of tree work — instead of one or two problem trees, we're clearing an overgrown lot, a wooded section of acreage, or a brush-choked property line to make the land usable again. We see this most often ahead of new construction, for property owners preparing pasture or garden space, and for homeowners who bought a lot that's grown wild over the years.
This is heavier work than a typical residential tree job, using skid steers, mulching heads, and larger chippers. We scope every project on-site and give you a detailed, itemized quote before equipment shows up.
Signs You Need Land Clearing
A lot or section of property has grown into dense, unusable brush and volunteer trees
You're planning new construction, an addition, or a driveway on wooded ground

Local Callout
Watch Out for Buckthorn
Buckthorn is an invasive species that's taken over huge sections of wooded land across northern Illinois. It grows fast, chokes out native trees, and needs to be cleared and treated rather than just trimmed back — one of the most common land clearing issues we see across Lake County.

Land Clearing FAQs
Land clearing is priced based on acreage, density of trees and brush, terrain, and what you want done with the cleared material. Small overgrown lots can start around $1,500, while larger wooded acreage projects run significantly more. We walk the property and give you a detailed, itemized quote before starting.
It depends on the size of the project, whether wetlands or protected trees are involved, and your specific municipality or township. We'll flag anything that looks like it needs a permit during our site visit, and can point you toward the right local office.
Yes, we regularly clear building pads, driveways, and access routes ahead of new construction, additions, and outbuildings. We coordinate with your timeline and can grade debris areas to spec if needed.
Larger trees can be left as firewood rounds, chipped, or hauled off-site, depending on volume and your preference. Brush and smaller material is typically chipped on-site to reduce hauling and speed up the job.
We can grind or remove stumps as part of a land clearing project — just let us know if you want the area completely clear for construction or grading versus leaving stumps for now. We'll price it either way in the quote.
